Parenting Pointer
Dividing time can be done in any pattern that suits parental work schedules and the particular needs of the children. Many couples simply alternate weeks, allowing each parent time as real-life, hurry-up-and-finish-your-breakfast-and-get-to-school, as well as fun-time over the weekends. Other couples divide each week or opting for two-week assignments.
Consider: Don’t get stuck in parenting negotiations because of an insistence on absolute mathematical equality. Keep in mind, not all days are created equal. Calendar equality doesn’t always equate to actual time with your child.
Mediation can help you establish a parenting plan that fits the needs the children and time with each parent.
